Job Description :

1. Using computer modelling simulations to predict how structures will act under varying conditions, i.e. high winds, flooding or earth tremors
2. Calculating loads and stresses on structural foundations, beams and walls
3. Ensuring projects meet legal, environmental and health and safety standards
4. Advising on suitable materials for a build
5. Inspecting buildings to assess their structural integrity
6. Advising on building repairs or demolition
7. Preparing bids for tender
8. Working with designers to develop construction plans and blueprints
9. Improving a structure’s energy efficiency
10. Delivering progress reports
11. Analysing building behaviour over time
12. Assisting with renovations, or restoring heritage buildings to extend their lifespan
13. Working at a client’s business, on a construction site or in an office, often outdoors or in noisy, dusty and cramped conditions.

Requirement :

1. Minimum Bachelor in Civil / Structural engineering, construction, building/ related field with minimum 3 years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
2. Experience design structures with programs such as SAP2000 or ETABS
3. Knowledge of engineering science, maths and technology
4. Knowledge of building and construction
5. Design skills and knowledge
6. Excellent verbal communication skills
7. Thinking and reasoning skills
8. Able to use a computer and the main software packages competently
